Our customer wanted a butcher block top on a dark, chunky base. We worked with them to create this island with an ebony stained base that consisted of chunky wood legs. We varied the widths of the wood on center cross piece to provide some texture since the entire base had a consistent stain color. The top is a 5' x 3' butcher block. We think it fits perfectly in their home below their antique lantern chandelier. They added dark wood counter height stools and benches. Finally, they completed the look with a succulent plant atop a Northern Ridge Designs live edge cherry centerpiece finished with with epoxy.
